Meet Amanda
April 8, 2026
I used to begin coaching sessions with new clients by asking them what they wanted to get out of our time together.
I thought it was a straightforward question, but to my surprise, it was a surprisingly hard one to answer.
Don’t get me wrong – they had things to say! It’s just that they answered everything except for what I asked.
They had a ton of ideas about what they didn’t want, or fears associated with their avoidance of public speaking. Like these:
I don’t want to feel nervous anymore!
I don’t want to lose sleep and freak out before every presentation!
My boss wants me to present more, and I’m worried that if I don’t, I’ll never get promoted!
Those were all very reasonable answers. It’s just that none of them answered my question.
I finally realized why people couldn’t answer me directly, and it was quite simple.
By the time I meet someone, they’re usually in pain or great discomfort. Public speaking is a lot on the nervous system if you haven’t had the right coaching. Nerves, self-doubt, even childhood wounds, are major roadblocks for people.
So, when they come to me for help, they are perfectly clear on the pain and discomfort they want to be rid of once and for all. They want to be rid of their panic, their shame, their guilt, their imposter syndrome.
But, the vision of what they DO want and the person they want to become hasn’t even entered their minds.
Knowing what you don’t want is helpful, but knowing what you want is a game changer.
Do you want to be seen as a leading expert and thought leader among your peers?
Do you want to collaborate with someone (or a company) you’ve admired for a long time?
Do you want to go on a three-week safari, or a luxurious beach resort vacation, or a road trip to find the best restaurants in the country?
Putting yourself in a leadership role by simply claiming your expertise can lead you to passions, promotions, and people you never thought you’d meet or experience.

And it’s a lot easier to get to that place if you know you want to be there.
Knowing what you want is the best gift you can give yourself. It allows you get really specific about your goals, make the most of your coaching investment, and track your results.
So, what do YOU want? I want to hear!
Let’s get started…right here.
