Meet Amanda

Have you ever gotten so excited about a creative idea, only to abandon it within days?
You have a brilliant idea for a book. You take notes on your phone. You visualize getting published, going on podcasts and talk shows to talk about your celebrated work. You think of what you’ll buy with the sales money – new jeans! A car! A trip!
And, then…it goes away.
You think, “Where will I ever get the time or the brain space for that?”
And, poof! The daydreaming stops, and the idea floats into the ether.
And, instead of writing your book, you open a jar of peanut butter, grab a spoon, and sit down for a reality TV marathon.

Don’t get me wrong – there’s nothing wrong with a little indulgence! But, if you find yourself in and endless loop of idea→excitement→procrastination, you’ll never actually start.
Whether you’re writing the next great American novel, or designing the slides for your next presentation, you are just too good to let yourself be ignored.
Your audience is waiting to hear what you have to say!
And, trust me, once you get into a flow state, there will be no stopping you.
But, before your slides start practically filling in themselves, you have to face one thing: starting.
Starting is the hardest part. And, if you’re like a lot of my new clients, you’ll get stuck on the first step, and fixate on your opening line until the whole presentation seems impossible.
So, I’ll tell you what I tell them – it’s too early to worry about the opening line.
Until your presentation is fully formed, you won’t see the full picture clearly enough to write an opening line that grabs people’s attention.
So, worry about the perfect line later. Start with your outline, your slides, the flow of your ideas, and your audience research.
Once you know who you’re talking to, what you’re saying, and the impact you want to leave, you’ll have a much easier time choosing the best way to open.
So, start your presentation. Meet yourself where you are.

And, you can trust me on this. I’ve coached even the most skeptical, self-doubting experts through crafting their presentations and finding their opening lines, and I’ve watched their audiences literally lean forward in their seats.
So, whether you’re starting on your outline, or you’re ready to open boldly, I’m here to help you leave that impact.
